Tyler Stevens is fast in Hell Tour stop at Benton Speedway
Searcy, Arkansas’ Tyler Stevens was one of 22 Late Model drivers in the pit area at Benton Speedway (Benton, Missouri) on Thursday for the night’s $5,000-to-win DIRTcar Summer Nationals Hell Tour event.
Stevens set quick time overall during qualifying on the 3/8-mile gumbo oval, turning in a blistering 14.991-second lap in his Keith Hammett Trucking & Construction No. 2 car. He then won his heat race from the pole and began the night’s 40-lap A-Main from the inside of the second row.
He ran much of the main event in the runner-up spot, but issues late relegated him to an 18th-place finish after he could not complete all 40 circuits.
