Ashton Winger 15th in Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway
The 29th running of the Dirt Late Model Dream kicked off for Ashton Winger on Thursday afternoon at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) as a pair of $12,000-to-win preliminary features opened the three-day event.
With the 95-car field split into two groups, Winger qualified 14th-quickest before picking up an impressive heat race victory. For the first preliminary feature of the weekend, Ashton scored a fifth-place outing behind Tim McCreadie, Hudson O'Neal, Kyle Stickler, and Shane Clanton.
For another round of prelims on Friday, Ashton picked it up in qualifying and was second-fastest in his stacked group. With a runner-up finish in his heat earning him a fourth-row starting spot in the $12,000 prelim, Winger ran inside the Top-10 but faded to finish 13th.
Starting on the front row of the second heat race on Saturday, Winger rolled to a runner-up finish in his heat race which placed on the fourth-row for the main event. In the $129,000 Dirt Late Model Dream, Ashton fell back to 15th and with the track taking rubber just past halfway, he was unable to make up anymore positions and wound up 15th.
