Bailes scores first Workin' Man Series victory at Cherokee Speedway

Ross Bailes invaded familiar territory on Thursday evening by competing at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) with the XR Workin' Man Series for the Throwback 50.

With a 33-car field on hand, Bailes was second-fastest in his qualifying group which landed him the pole position in his heat race. With a runner-up finish in his heat, Ross earned the sixth-place starting position via the Dirt Dominator. For the $10,000-to-win Throwback 50, Ross crawled forward and took the lead with 10 laps to go after race-long leader Zack Mitchell suffered a flat tire. Bailes led Trent Ivey, Jeff Smith, Carson Ferguson, and Michael Brown to the checkers.

Following the Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals to I-75 Raceway (Sweetwater, Tenn.) on Friday afternoon, Bailes locked himself into the main event and landed a runner-up finish in the $7,553-to-win feature.

For the Biddle Ridley Memorial on Saturday afternoon at North Georgia Speedway (Chatsworth, Ga.), Ross qualified fifth-quickest and recorded a runner-up finish in his heat. Rolling off seventh in the $10,053-to-win main event, Bailes gained five positions to collect his second runner-up finish of the weekend.

With Sunday's field elevated to 34 cars at Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tenn.) on Sunday afternoon, Bailes transferred to the main event in his heat race before recording a 14th-place finish in the $10,053-to-win series finale.

Ross finished second in the Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals point standings.
