Berry Jr. takes IMCA Modified victory at Marshalltown
For the second time in seven days, Tom Berry Jr. entered a mid-week IMCA Modified race and ended the night in Victory Lane.
Fresh off last Wednesday’s win at Stuart Speedway (Stuart, Iowa), Berry and his Jahnke Heating & Air Conditioning No. 11x machine were among 39 entrants in the IMCA Modified class during Tuesday’s Castrol FloRacing Night in America event at Marshalltown Speedway in the Hawkeye State.
Berry won his heat race, putting the Des Moines, Iowa, driver on the pole for the 20-lap main event. Berry led every circuit on the quarter-mile clay oval to take his fifth win of the year and the $1,000 top prize. He was followed across the start-finish line by Todd Shute, Tin Ward, Cody Laney and Johnathon Logue.
Berry was also one of 17 drivers to take part in the IMCA Stock Car class on Tuesday evening. He finished second in his heat race and rolled off fourth for the 20-lap, $750-to-win A-Main. Berry moved forward two spots in the race to score a runner-up result behind Troy Jerovetz. Dallon Murty, Jake Sachau and Todd Reitzler rounded out the top-five behind Berry.
