Berry Jr. wins in IMCA Modified at Stuart Speedway
Tom Berry Jr. took on the quarter-mile Stuart Speedway (Stuart, Iowa) on Wednesday evening and came away with the IMCA Modified checkered flag.
Berry’s Brodehl Trucking No. 11x ride was among 22 Modifieds in the pits for the Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel, and the driver from Des Moines, Iowa, steered the machine to a perfect evening.
Berry won his heat race from the pole and started 10th on the grid for the 20-lap, $1000-to-win main event. He charged forward nine positions to take the lead in the A-Main with three circuits remaining and won the race by 0.685 seconds over runner-up Tim Ward. Jesse Dennis, Grey Ferrando and Drew Jansen rounded out the top-five.
The win was Berry’s fourth overall in 2023.
In addition, Berry took part in the IMCA Stock Car portion of the program on Wednesday at Stuart Speedway. His 11x car was one of 27 entered.
Berry finished second in his heat race, ultimately putting him in the eighth starting spot for the A-Main. He moved ahead nine spots to come home third in the 18-lap race. He crossed the start-finish line behind Dallon Murty and Nick Roberts, while Buck Schafroth and Troy Jerovetz finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
