Ross Bailes fifth in Spring Nationals visit to Rome Speedway
With wet weather cancelling the previous weekend of action, Ross Bailes returned to the Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals Series at Tri-County Racetrack (Brasstown, N.C.) on Friday afternoon.
With 26 Late Models in the pit area, Bailes went out for his qualifying lap when his brake pedal snapped in half. With the crew rushing to get the car fixed in time for the feature, Ross started the 40-lap main event from 21st and made it all the way up to seventh when the checkers flew.
Hoping for better luck at Rome Speedway (Rome, Ga.) on Saturday, Ross qualified fifth-quickest overall before finishing third in his heat race. Rolling off seventh in the $10,053-to-win main event, Bailes gained two positions to record a Top-5 effort.
