Willard competes in Iowa MLRA double dip
Brennon Willard took on some of the Midwest’s most stout Dirt Late Model competition on Thursday and Friday as the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Association (MLRA) made a swing through eastern Iowa.
The driver from Lebanon, Missouri, first entered his Lowe Boats No. 3 Chevrolet in Thursday’s tour stop at Davenport Speedway, which attracted 45 entrants. Willard clocked in 17th in his qualifying group, positioning him in the ninth starting spot for his heat. After finishing 11th, Willard moved on to one of two B-Mains where he suffered an early exit and a 13th-place result.
On Friday, MLRA headed south to West Burlington, Iowa’s 34 Raceway for the Slocum 50 with 41 entries.
Willard qualified 18th in his group and both started and finished ninth in his heat. He was only able to pick up one spot in his B Feature and came home ninth. However, he was awarded a provisional which put him 25th on the grid for the 50-lap main event. Willard moved up one position in the feature, but pulled off before 20 laps were complete to finish 24th.
The second night at 34 Raceway was washed out.
