Brennon Willard begins 2023 season at Lucas Oil Speedway
Brennon Willard invaded Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) on Friday afternoon to kick off his 2023 season aboard his Hudson Feed & Grain No. 3 Late Model for the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) opening weekend.
Amongst a stout field of 48 Late Models, Willard clocked in 18th-fastest in his group before placing eighth in his heat. Needing to place third or better to make Friday’s prelim, Brennon fell short with a ninth-place outing.
For the second round of the MLRA Spring Nationals on Saturday, Brennon fell short of a transfer spot by two cars in his consolation race with a fifth-place finish, forcing him to use a provisional into the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Starting in 26th, Willard was an early retiree from the 40-lapper on lap 22.
