Tom Berry Jr.

Tom Travels South to Ark-La-Tex

Tom Berry Jr. was back on the road south over the weekend with a trip to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, La.). The 10th annual Cajun Clash took center stage at the Louisiana oval with action roaring to life on Thursday with a $3,000-to-win program.

Fifty-nine entries took part in the opening round, and the night starting on a promising note with Tom setting fast time in his group and then winning his heat race from the sixth-starting spot.

Via his preliminary performance he lined up eighth on the starting grid for the 35-lap, $3,000-to-win feature. Tom ran in the Top 10 until lap 12, when mechanical issues sent him pitside. He was credited with a 29th-place finish in the final rundown.

Friday evening proved to be a much better night for Berry Jr. A second-place finish in his heat race left Tom just short of locking into the feature, but a B-Main win promoted him to the feature in the 14th-starting spot.

Tom marched through the field in the finale to record a second-place finish behind Cayden Carter with Jake O'Neil, Rodney Sanders, and Joe Duvall rounding out the Top-5 finishers.

On Saturday a $10,000-to-win program took center stage. Tom qualified fastest in his group, which pinned him starting sixth in a heat race. Advancing two spots in his heat race to finish fourth relegated Berry Jr. to a B-Main.

A fifth-place finish in the B-Main locked Tom into the 21st-starting spot for the night's 50-lap feature. He advanced seven spots to finish 14th, which earned him the night's Hard Charger Award.
