Beard attends Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park
Monday saw Kyle Beard continue his 2023 Speedweeks trek as he traveled to East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla) for six straight nights of racing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
For Monday's $5,000 opener, Beard struggled in qualifying but made up two spots in his heat race to finish fifth. With a chance to make the feature in the second B-Main, Kyle missed a transfer spot with a fifth-place finish.
For the second $5,000-to-win show of the week, Kyle recorded a seventh-place heat race finish which set him up to start eighth in his B-Main. Beard gained three positions in the consolation race, but was still unable to crack the Top-2 for a transfer position.
With 65 Late Models signed in on Wednesday, Beard timed in the ninth-quickest lap in his group before grabbing the final transfer spot in his heat race. Making his first feature start of the weekend, Kyle completed all 40-laps and brought home a 17th-place finish in the $7,000 A-Main.
On Thursday's second $7,000-to-win event, Beard made up two spots in his heat race but needed to transfer through a B-Main. In the third consolation race, Kyle made a strong charge to the Top-3 but ultimately fell one spot short of transferring.
For Friday's $12,000 program, a fifth-place finish in his heat race lined up Beard for a second row starting spot in his B-Main. With one more chance to make his second A-Main of the week, Beard was unable to gain any positions and finished fourth in the third consolation race.
An unfavorable forecast for Saturday’s Wieland Winternationals event washed out the LOLMDS speedweek finale.
