Putnam Embarks on East Bay

Josh Putnam embarked on the opening round of the 47th annual Weiland Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.) on Monday evening.

Fifty-eight Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competitors entered the event, and Josh raced from sixth-to-fourth in his heat race before slipping from the second-starting spot to a fifth-place finish in his B-Main. With only the Top-2 finishers moving onto the feature, his outing ended early.

Another $5,000-to-win program was held on Tuesday as the entry list grew to 60. A fifth-place finish in his heat race relegated Putnam to a B-Main once again. He clawed his way to a third-place finish in the B-Main, which unfortunately left him one spot shy of a transfer to the feature.

Action continued on Wednesday night, and via qualifying action Josh earned the fourth-starting spot for his heat race. Missing the transfer to the feature by two spots in the heat, Putnam slid backwards in the B-Main as his night came to an early end.

Thursday's event found Putnam behind the eight ball early with the 26th-fastest time in his qualifying group. While, he failed to make up ground in his heat race he stormed from 12th to fourth in his B-Main. Unfortunately, with only the Top-2 finishers advancing to the feature his night drew to an early end.

Friday night's $12,000-to-win LOLMDS event saw Putnam once again battling the handle as he failed to transfer to the main event via preliminary action.
