Millwood lands first Lucas Oil podium at East Bay

Tyler Millwood returned to the driver's seat of his Millwood Plumbing No. 31 at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.) to kick off the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Wieland Winternationals.

With 58 Late Model signed in for opening night, Millwood would pick up the win in his B-Main after narrowly missing a transfer spot in his heat race. Starting the 30-lap main event from the 10th row, Tyler crawled into the Top-15 just shy of halfway before mounting a significant charge to the front. Millwood passed 17 cars on the way to his first ever Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series podium. He trailed Tyler Erb and Hudson O'Neal while Brandon Overton and Dennis Erb Jr. rounded out the Top-5.

For another $5,000-to-win show on Tuesday, Millwood finished sixth in his heat race and was unable to transfer to the main event through his B-Main.

With Wednesday's field elevated to 65 Late Models, Millwood gained three positions in his heat race to get a sixth-place finish after a rough go in his qualifying session. With a shot to make the $7,000 feature in his B-Main, Millwood recorded a fifth-place run, two spots out of a transfer.

For Thursday's $7,000-to-win event, Millwood qualified 28th-quickest before making up three spots in his heat race to record a seventh-place finish. Being buried in his B-Main, Tyler was a scratch for the remainder of the evening.

On Friday, Millwood had mechanical issues after his qualifying session which forced him to be a scratch for the remainder of the evening.

An unfavorable forecast for Saturday’s Wieland Winternationals event washed out the LOLMDS speedweek finale.
