Ross Bailes earns first victory of 2023 season at Screven
Before traveling to East Bay Raceway Park, Ross Bailes made a stop at Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Ga.) to enter his Billy Hicks Racing No. 79 into Southern All Star Series action for the 13th running of the Winter Freeze.
With 22 Late Models in the pit area, Bailes ripped off the quickest lap in his qualifying group before nailing down a heat race victory over Josh Putnam. Slated to start the 50-lap main event from the front row, Ross jumped to the lead early but slipped back to third on a lap 10 restart. Ross powered his way back to reclaim the top spot on lap 25 and held off a hard-charging Kenny Collins to the checkered flag. Bailes topped Kenny Collins, Steven Roberts, Trent Ivey, and Benji Hicks who completed the Top 5.
