Garrett Alberson begins Lucas Oil 2023 campaign at Golden Isles
Kicking off his sophomore season on tour with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Garrett Alberson invaded Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) on Thursday to pilot the Roberts Motorsports No. 58 Late Model for the annual Super Bowl of Racing.
Drawing a stacked field of 50 Late Models for the three-day event, Garrett followed up a sixth-place finish in his heat with an eighth-place outing in his B-Main, forcing him to use a provisional into the opener. Retiring early with 10 circuits remaining in the feature, Alberson was credited with a 25th-place outing.
The following night, Alberson had to rely on a provisional into the feature again after coming up short of a transfer spot in his heat race and B-Main. With $10,000 on the line, Garrett gained three positions in the 50-lapper to place 20th.
On Saturday, Garrett came in seventh in his heat race before going from 12th-to-8th in his B-Main. Starting the $25,000-to-win Super Bowl of Racing finale in 23rd via a provisional, Alberson advanced through the field seven spots to record a 16th-place outing.
Back in action on Sunday at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Fla.) for the BRP Winter Nationals, Alberson missed a transfer position by one spot in his consolation event with a fourth-place finish. Inching forward four positions in the 40-lap A-Main, Garrett crossed the line in 18th.
In a field of 39 Late Models on Monday, Garrett was collected in a tangle in his heat that buried him deep in his B-Main. Using a provisional into the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Alberson passed nine cars in the 40-lap affair to finish 16th.
