Robinson begins 2023 Lucas Oil campaign at Golden Isles Speedway
Lifting the lid on his sophomore season with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Ross Robinson and the Dutchstar Motorsports team invaded Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) on Thursday evening for the Super Bowl of Racing.
Drawing 50 Late Models for the three-day event, Robinson raced his way into the opener with a fifth-to-second run in his consolation event after placing fifth in his heat. Inching forward two spots in the 40-lap feature, Ross recorded a 20th-place outing.
For another $10,000-to-win A-Main on Friday, Ross missed a transfer spot by one car in his heat with a fourth-place finish, relegating him into the B-Main. With a runner-up performance in his consolation event placing him on the 11th row for the feature, Robinson salvaged a 19th-place finish in the 40-lap affair.
On Saturday, Robinson was forced to take a provisional into the $25,000-to-win finale after falling short of a transfer position in preliminary events. Pulling off early on lap 19, Ross was credited with a 23rd-place outing.
Following the series to Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Fla.) on Sunday, Ross charged from 25th-to-14th in the 40-lap feature after using a provisional into the $10,000-to-win event.
The five-day stretch with the series concluded on Monday with Robinson climbing from the 14th row in the main event to finish 22nd in the 40-lapper.
