Ferguson Opens '23 at GIS Super Bowl of Racing
Carson Ferguson opened his 2023 season over the weekend at the Super Clean Super Bowl of Racing at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.).
Action opened on Thursday evening with 50 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) competitors registered for battle in the $10,000-to-win program. Carson qualified eighth fastest in his group in time trials and then proceeded to finish third in his heat race, which transferred him to the 40-lap feature.
Starting 15th on the feature grid, he advanced to an 11th-place finish.
Round #2 of the weekend was held on Friday, and a good qualifying effort was followed by a runner-up finish in his heat race as he moved onto the feature event for the second-straight night. Ferguson started and finished 12th in the 50-lap, $12,000-to-win program.
On Sunday night Carson missed the transfer spot to the 60-lap feature by one spot in his heat race. However, he won his B-Main to earn the 20th-starting spot for the feature. Unfortunately, Ferguson's chances at the $25,000 victory fell by the wayside when he was collected in a first lap accident.
