Sunshine Nationals brings Big Frog Motorsports to Volusia
The 2023 season got underway for Big Frog Motorsports on Thursday afternoon with Scott Bloomquist hopping behind the wheel of the Dave’s Towing No. 58 Late Model for the fourth annual Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.).
With 47 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series entries on the grounds for the three-day event, Bloomquist laid down the 14th-fastest time in his group before placing seventh in his heat race. Needing a third-place finish or better in his B-Main to make the feature, Scott jumped up two spots but missed a transfer position by one car.
On Friday, Chris Ferguson entered the No. 58 Late Model and went onto place fourth in his heat, relegating him into the B-Main. Locking the top-two into the $8,000-to-win A-Main, Ferguson logged a fifth-place outing.
An unfavorable forecast for Saturday’s program forced officials to cancel the Sunshine Nationals finale.
