Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern/Winter Series Rolls to Boyd’s Speedway for 15th Annual Cabin Fever January 28

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (January 21, 2023)- The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern/Winter Series returns to action on Saturday January 28 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA for the 15th Annual Cabin Fever event, paying $5,000 to win and $450 to start. The event will be a non-points race for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series, but will be points race number two of the 2023 Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Winter Series.

The weekend will get underway on Friday January 27 with an open practice for all divisions at Boyd’s Speedway, with the pit area opening at 3:00 p.m. and the general admission area opening at 4:30 p.m., while the track will be available for practice laps from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. For the open practice on Friday January 27, admission to the general admission area is free, while a pit pass will be $25, children ages 6-12 $10, and children ages 5 and under will be free.

The 15th Annual Cabin Fever will take place on Saturday January 28 and will feature the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern/Winter Series competitors in a full program of practice, E-Z-GO time trials, Sunoco Race Fuels last chance heat races, and the 40-lap, $5,000 to win/$450 to start 15th Annual Cabin Fever 40 feature event. Other divisions in competition at Boyd’s Speedway for the 15th Annual Cabin Fever on Saturday January 28 will be the Tri-State 602 Open Wheel Modified Series racing for $2,000 to win, along with the track’s 604 Crate Late Models ($1,500 to win), 602 Sportsman ($1,000 to win), Street Stocks ($600 to win), Front Wheel Drives ($500 to win), Beginner Sportsman ($150 to win), and the event will conclude with an Enduro that will pay $1,000 to win. NASCAR legend Kenny Schrader will also be on hand competing in the Tri-State 602 Open Wheel Modified Series event.

Activities at Boyd’s Speedway for the 15th Annual Cabin Fever on Saturday January 28 will see the pit area open at 9:00 a.m. and the general admission area will open at 11:00 a.m. The driver’s meeting is set for Noon, with on-track activities getting underway at 12:30 p.m. Ticket prices for the 15th Annual Cabin Fever in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 6-12, and children ages 5 and under are free. A pit pass will be $40 for adults, $15 for children ages 6-12, and children ages 5 and under are free. VIP Tickets for Saturday will be available for $60.

Several contingency awards have been posted for the 15th Annual Cabin Fever at Boyd’s Speedway. MasterSbilt Race Cars will award a $150 in-house credit to the highest finishing driver using a MasterSbilt Race Car in the Super Late Model main event. Boydbilt Fabrication will sponsor the Boydbilt “Smashing the Clock” Fast Time Award for the fastest Super Late Model qualifier at the Cabin Fever event. Rocket Chassis will sponsor the “The Rocket Bonus” ($100) for the highest finishing Rocket Chassis in the Super Late Model main event. Capital Race Cars will offer a $250 in-house credit for the highest finishing Capital Race Car in the Super Late Model feature event. Savage Race Cars is also providing an in-house credit of $200 to the highest finishing Savage Race Car in the feature event.

The Super Late Model portion of the 15th Annual Cabin Fever will be sanctioned by the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern/Winter Series and will be contested under their series rules and regulations. The tire rule for Super Late Models will be as follows: Hoosier 1350 and Hoosier 1600 anywhere on the car; American Racer 48 and 56 anywhere on the car (no limit on number of tires used). There is NO droop rule (39-inch maximum deck height; WoO/Lucas/XRSS body rules apply) and tire samples will be taken. The entry fee for the event is $100 and transponders for timing/scoring are available for rent from the track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field will receive $50 tow money.
