Sixth-place finish in Duel in the Desert finale at Las Vegas Dirt Track
Chase Junghans trekked west to Las Vegas Dirt Track (Las Vegas, Nev.) on Thursday to compete in the three-day event with the XR Super Series.
With 42 Late Models on the grounds, Junghans edged his way into Thursday’s prelim with a third-place finish in his heat. Starting in 11th, Chase suffered a broken driveshaft on lap 24 that sidelined him for the remainder of the evening.
For the second round of the Duel in the Desert on Friday, Chase rebounded with an 11th-to-sixth run in his heat after failing to make it out for hot laps and time trials. Following a 10-lap consolation victory, Junghans passed eight cars in the 40-lap feature to finish 10th.
On Saturday, Junghans secured his spot into the $40,000-to-win Duel in the Desert finale with a fourth-place finish in his heat. Coming one spot shy of a top-five finish, Chase advanced through the field nine spots in the 50-lapper to place sixth.
