Drawing a stout field of 68 cars for the 42nd annual General Tire Dirt Track World Championship presented by Optima Batteries, Overton timed in third-fastest in his group before placing first in his heat race.
Earning the fifth-starting position for Saturday’s $100,000-to-win Dirt Track World Championship, Brandon ran second for the majority of the 100-lapper but a late flat tire resulted in an early exit. After sneaking past Tim McCreadie for second on lap 13, Overton surrendered second back to McCreadie on lap 89 but a flat tire two circuits later ended his night immediately. He was credited with a 19th-place outing.
