Third-place finish in Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth

Following the third-fastest time in his group, Marlar outran Brandon Sheppard in his heat race to pick up the win. Starting on the pole for the $22,022-to-win A-Main, Mike raced to a third-place finish in the 50-lap affair. He trailed race-long pacesetter Jimmy Owens and Chris Madden to the checkers with Cory Hedgecock and Bobby Pierce completing the Top-5 finishers.
Returning to the driver’s seat of the Delk Equipment Sales No. 157 Late Model on Friday, Mike ventured to Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio) to compete in the 42nd annual General Tire Dirt Track World Championship presented by Optima Batteries. In a massive field of 68 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries, Marlar secured his spot into Saturday’s $100,000-to-win finale with a heat race victory.
Starting in fourth, Mike lost ground early but mounted a late charge in 100-lapper to finish third. He followed Garrett Smith and Tim McCreadie across the line.
