In a field of 35 cars, Overton followed up the seventh-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a fourth-to-second run in his heat. Looking to capture his third straight Tar Heel 53 victory in the event paying $22,022 to the winner, Brandon raced to a second-place finish in the 53-lapper. He trailed Dale McDowell to the checkers with Chris Madden rounding out the podium.
With the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Saturday evening at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.), Brandon was granted a provisional into the $15,000-to-win A-Main after missing a transfer spot in his heat race and B-Main. Starting in 24th, Overton was an early retiree from the 50-lap affair on lap 32.
