Aboard the SSI Motorsports No. 20RT Late Model for the two-day event sanctioned by the XR Super Series, Ricky ran as high as fifth in the preliminary feature but ran into brake issues on lap 12 that forced him to retire.
In the Learmen-owned No. 4 Modified, Thornton followed up a third-place finish in his heat with a 15th-to-fourth showing in the 30-lap feature.
For Tuesday’s $40,000-to-win Late Model finale, Ricky timed in second-fastest in his group before placing first heat. Losing one spot in the 60-lap main event, Thornton recorded a fourth-place finish, which came behind Tim McCreadie, Jonathan Davenport, and Chris Madden with Dennis Erb Jr. coming in fifth.
With a ninth-to-second run in his heat placing him on the pole for the Modified feature, Thornton scored a third-place finish in the 30-lapper.
On Friday, Ricky took the SSI Motorsports No. 20RT Late Model into battle with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) for the Night Before the Jackson. Starting the rain-delayed feature in second, Thornton rebounded to finish 13th after slowing on lap sixth with a flat right-rear tire.
For the 43rd annual Jackson 100 on Saturday night, Thornton followed up the second-fastest time in his group with a heat win. With $20,000 on the line in the feature, Ricky jumped up two spots in the 100-lap affair to place second. He trailed Tim McCreadie to the checkers with Tyler Erb, Josh Rice, and Daulton Wilson completing the Top-5 finishers.
Ricky remains in third in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
