Spencer Diercks attends Knoxville Nationals
Thursday saw Spencer Diercks return to action with the 18th annual Knoxville Nationals at the prestigious Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa). (Heath Lawson photos)
Drawing 48 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries for a pair of preliminary rounds leading up to Saturday’s finale, Diercks took part in his heat race but was a scratch from his B-Main.
For Friday’s $7,000-to-win prelim, Spencer followed up the fifth-fastest lap in his time trial group with a fourth-place finish in his heat. Fading outside the Top-10 in the 25-lap feature, Diercks recorded a 20th-place finish.
With passing points from Thursday and Friday’s prelims locking him into the 24th-starting position for Sunday’s rain-delayed $50,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale, Spencer was an early retiree from the 50-lapper on lap 17.
