Robinson competes with LOLMDS at Knoxville Raceway
Thursday night saw Ross Robinson continue his rookie year on tour with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) with the 18th annual Knoxville Nationals at the famed Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa). (Heath Lawson photos)
Drawing 48 cars for a pair of prelims leading up to Saturday’s main event, Ross timed in 13th-fastest in his group before placing second in his heat. With $7,000 on the line in his preliminary feature, Robinson faded six spots to finish 17th.
For another $7,000-to-win A-Main on Friday, Robinson fell short of a transfer spot in his heat race and B-Main, ending his night early.
With passing points for prelims on Thursday and Friday relegating him into a B-Main, Ross secured his spot into Sunday’s rain-delayed $50,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale with a third-place finish. Advancing forward nine positions in the 50-lap affair, Robinson raced to an 18th-place finish.
