Drawing 42 cars for the third annual One for the Road, Marlar was forced to use a provisional into the main event after getting a slow start to his evening. With $22,022 on the line, Mike gained nine spots in the 50-lapper to register a 12th-place finish.
On Thursday, Mike joined the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa) for the 18th annual Knoxville Nationals. Following a fourth-place finish in his heat race, Marlar charged from the sixth-starting spot in his B-Main to pick up the consolation victory. Moving forward seven positions in the 25-lap preliminary feature, Mike crossed the line in 12th.
For Friday’s $7,000-to-win prelim, Marlar’s eighth-place finish in his heat race relegated him into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main. Needing to place second or better, Mike logged a 12th-place outing.
Earning the 22nd-starting position for Sunday’s rain-delayed $50,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale via passing points from Thursday and Friday’s prelims, Mike was an early retiree from the 50-lap affair on lap 31. He was credited with a 21st-place finish.
