Outrunning Kyle Strickler in his 12-lap heat race to pick up the win, Chase locked into the 16th-starting position for the $7,000-to-win preliminary feature. Wheeling his way into the Top-10, Junghans passed six cars in the 25-lapper to place 10th.
For Friday’s prelim, Junghans came in sixth in his heat race before grabbing the third-and-final transfer spot in his B-Main. With $7,000 on the line in the feature, Chase inched forward three spots to cross the line in 18th.
Earning the 19th-starting position for Sunday’s rain-delayed $50,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale via passing points from Thursday and Friday’s prelims, Chase improved five spots in the 50-lap affair to register a 14th-place finish.
