In a stout field of 42 cars for the third annual One for the Road, Overton edged his way into the $22,022-to-win A-Main with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat. Passing five cars in the 50-lap affair, Brandon crossed the line in 11th.
For the opening night of the 18th annual Knoxville Nationals on Thursday at Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa), Brandon recorded the fastest lap in a field of 48 cars before finishing fourth in his heat, relegating him into the B-Main for another shot at the preliminary feature. Taking the top-three, Overton suffered a right-front flat tire on the eighth circuit while leading that ended his bid for the $7,000-to-win prelim.
For Friday’s $7,000-to-win preliminary, Overton followed up the sixth-fastest lap in his group with a second-place finish in his heat. Losing two spots in the 25-lap feature, Brandon recorded a fourth-place finish, which came behind Bobby Pierce, Ricky Thornton Jr., and Chris Simpson with Tyler Bruening coming in fifth.
With passing points from Thursday and Friday’s preliminary nights placing Brandon on the fourth row for Sunday’s rain-delayed $50,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale, Overton dropped one spot in the 50-lap affair to register a ninth-place finish.
