Rodney Sanders

Sanders fifth in Fastrac 40 at Deer Creek Speedway

Rodney Sanders was one of 39 USRA Modifieds entered at Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wis.) on Thursday afternoon for the Karl Fenske Memorial.

With a third-to-first charge in his heat race placing him on the fourth row for the feature, Sanders jumped up one spot to register a seventh-place finish.

Returning to the 3/8-mile oval on Friday for the United States Modified Touring Series-sanctioned End of Summer Bash, Rodney followed up a fifth-place outing in his heat with a runner-up finish in his B-Main. Moving forward four spots in the 42-lap feature, Sanders crossed the line in 11th.

The following night at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.) for the 17th annual J&S JCB Fastrac 40, Sanders started the evening off with a heat race win, which positioned him eighth on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Breaking into the Top-5, Rodney jumped up three spots to finish fifth. He followed Jim Chisholm, Dustin Sorensen, Jake O’Neil, and Jacob Bleess across the line.

For the War in West Union on Sunday at Fayette County Speedway (West Union, Iowa), Rodney was running in sixth in the feature when mechanical issues struck on lap 33, dropping him to the tail. He rebounded to finish 14th in the 42-lapper.

Rodney sits in fifth in the latest USMTS point standings.
