Spencer Diercks defends home turf as World of Outlaws invade
Taking part in a tripleheader event with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series, Spencer Diercks made the short trip to his home track of Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) on Thursday afternoon to pilot his Lindquist Ford No. 29 Late Model. (Mike Ruefer photos)
With 38 Late Models entered for a pair of prelims leading up to Saturday’s Quad Cities 150 finale, Diercks edged his way into the opening night feature with a third-place finish in his heat. With $10,000 on the line, Spencer retired with 10 circuits remaining.
On Friday, Spencer laid down the fifth-fastest time in his group before placing second in his heat. Fading outside the Top-10 in the 40-lap feature, Diercks logged a 21st-place outing.
For the finale on Saturday, Diercks’ sixth-to-second charge in his heat race positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the $30,000-to-win Quad Cities 150 A-Main. After challenging for a Top-5 run the majority of the race, Spencer was taken out by another competitor on a late restart that dropped him to 16th when the checkered flag flew.
