After topping the 23-car field in time trials to capture the Allstar Performance Fast Time Award, Wenger suffered a flat tire while challenging for the lead in his heat race. Charging from the tail in the $5,000-to-win feature, McKay passed 13 cars in the 40-lap affair to register a ninth-place finish.
In a field of 24 cars on Friday at Kankakee County Speedway (Kankakee, Ill.) for the Big Daddy Scrap 40, McKay timed in fifth-fastest before placing second in his heat. With $5,000 on the line in the feature, Wenger jumped up two spots in the 40-lapper to finish third. He followed Mike Spatola and Ryan Unzicker across the line with Frank Heckenast Jr. and Kevin Weaver rounding the out the Top-5.
Saturday’s MARS Racing Series scheduled event at Lafayette County Speedway (Darlington, Wis.) fell victim to Mother Nature.
McKay remains in third in the latest MARS Racing Series point standings.
