4th Annual Carpenter Memorial Race & Driven to Care Night - Results & Recap

The 2022 racing season continued on Saturday night at the Jamestown Speedway with a very special event. The Jamestown Speedway hosted the 4th Annual Jeff Carpenter Memorial Race for the Wissota Midwest Modifieds and it was also JRMC Driven to Care Night at the Speedway. There were a total of 39 Wissota Midwest Modifieds in attendance and we have to thank Tony Smith, Randy Klein, the Carpenter Family, friends, supporters, devoted sponsors, and more for helping to host the Carpenter Memorial on Saturday and raise over $13,000 for the purse! The racing action was hot and heavy throughout the night. The track was pretty heavy and challenging in the heats, but the track prep crew did an awesome job and the track was great for the features. We also have to send out a huge thanks to 103.1 The Raven for sponsoring the racing action and great prizes for our fans.

The weather was beautiful on Saturday. The racing action was great as the track had moisture in it. It definitely was fast at the beginning of the night and after the track prep section, it set up for some great features. The Street Stock feature had multiple two to three to four wide battles throughout the feature. We had a total of 111 cars in the pits! We have to thank all of the drivers, fans, and track workers that came out to enjoy the action on Saturday night and honor Jeff Carpenter.

Congratulations goes out to our winners and runner-ups during the 4th Annual Jeff Carpenter Memorial Race:

Bombers/Pure Stocks - 15 Cars:

  • Winner: Travis Edinger, Runner-Up: Asher Williams
  • Hard Charger: Hayden Aberle +7 (10th to 3rd)

A great battle up front in the Bomber feature. Asher Williams had command of the race through the first half of the feature, but Travis Edinger and Jayden Michaelsohn were working their way to the front. Jayden was able to make the pass on Travis and then, made the pass for the lead with about 5 laps to go on the high side. Jayden would cross the line first as a great battle occurred between Travis Edinger on the high side and Asher Williams on the bottom with Travis finishing ahead of Asher coming off of turn 4. However, Jayden was unfortunately disqualified in post-race tech due to a part and the win was awarded to Travis.

INEX Legends - 18 Cars:

  • Winner: Alex Kukowski, Runner-Up: Donavin Wiest
  • Hard Charger: Donavin Wiest +8 (10th to 2nd) & Gunnar Pfaff +8 (16th to 8th)

It was a great race that started with a lap one crash that moved Alex Kukowski to the rear of the field and Ryan Erdahl went pit side due to a bumper coming unattached. Alex wasted no time and worked his way back through the field and took the lead on lap 6. Donavin Wiest worked his way forward and took over the runner-up spot with about 10 laps to go and Glenn Mitchell had a nice run to third, Collin Compson in fourth, and Sierra Davenport in the top 5.

Wissota Midwest Modifieds - 39 Cars ($1,537 to Win):

  • Winner: Lucas Rodin, Runner-Up: Matt Schow
  • Hard Charger: Scott Bintz +14 (24th to 10th)

A great battle throughout the field and a lot of movers throughout the end of the race. Lucas Rodin started on the pole and was untouched throughout the race.
However, there was a great battle for second between Matt Schow, Travis Saurer, and Lindsey Hansen. Lindsey held second for a majority of the race until a few restarts later in the race allowed Matt and Travis to work their way into the battle for second. Travis passed Matt coming to the white flag with Matt passing Travis back through turns 3 and 4 for second. Travis Saurer finished third, Nate Reinke had a great run from thirteenth to fourth, and Lindsey Hansen in the top 5. Congralutions to Lucas Rodin and thank you to the Jeff Carpenter family and supporters for helping out with the event on Saturday night.

Wissota Street Stocks - 19 Cars:

  • Winner: Billie Christ, Runner-Up: Kyle Anderson
  • Hard Charger: Scott Bintz +10 (16th to 6th)

This was an awesome race. For the first several laps, the top 4 were four wide and it was third wide behind them throughout the top 10. A great battle for the win as Billie Christ worked his way forward from the ninth starting spot and held off Kyle Anderson, Geoff Hellman, Jaden Christ, and Kasey Ussatis towards the end of the race. The Wissota Street Stocks were all over the Speedway and put on a great show.

IMCA Modifieds - 13 Cars:

  • Winner: Eric Edwards, Runner-Up: Scott Gartner
  • Hard Charger: Eric Edwards +7 (8th to 1st) & Scott Gartner (9th to 2nd)

The IMCA Modifieds started like the Wissota Street Stock feature with a lot of two and third wide racing. Eric Edwards moved past Kevin Oeder into the lead early in the race and a great battle for second occurred between Kevin Oeder, Scott Gartner, Cody Peterson, and John Corell. Scott Gartner held off Cody Peterson in the closing laps for second place. Cody Peterson was third, Andy Kapp was fourth, and Kevin Oeder in the top 5.

Jr. Slingshots - 7 Cars:

  • Winner: Tripp Nelson, Runner-Up: A.J. Matzke

Once again, thank you to all of the drivers, fans, and track personnel that came out to the show on Saturday night. We really appreciate everyone's support at the Jamestown Speedway and we have to thank everyone for coming out. We hope all of the drivers had a great time and hope to see everyone back throughout the season.

Please join us next week for some more high-flying, action-packed racing on Jamestown's 1/4 mile high-bank oval. Next week Saturday, August 27th is Season Championship Night and the Kuchen Invitational! The point battles are very close in several classes. The gates open at 5:30 pm and racing action begins at 7:00 pm. Hope to see everyone next week Saturday for some horsepower at the Jamestown Speedway!
