Following a fourth-place finish in his heat, Brian came one spot shy of a transfer position again in his B-Main with a third-place finish.
For another $20,000-to-win A-Main on Tuesday, Shirley posted a fifth-place finish in his heat race, relegating him into the B-Main for one final shot at the finale. Needing to place second or better, Brian logged a fourth-place outing.
Shirley rejoined the DIRTcar Summer Nationals at Shadyhill Speedway (Medaryville, Ind.) on Thursday afternoon for the 20th round of the tour. Earning the sixth-starting position for the feature via a second-place finish in his heat, Brian gained one spot in the 40-lapper to finish fifth. He followed Bobby Pierce, Tristan Chamberlain, Chad Finley, and Joe Godsey across the line.
With Friday's DIRTcar Summer Nationals scheduled event at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) again falling to Mother Nature, Brian trekked south to Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned NAPA Know How 50. In a field of 32 cars, Shirley came in fifth in his heat before picking up a consolation victory. With $12,000 on the line in the feature, Brian passed two cars in the 50-lap affair to finish 16th.
