Clanton follows World of Outlaws to Cedar Lake for USA Nationals
Thursday saw Shane Clanton return with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) aboard his Skyline Motorsports No. 25 Late Model for the USA Nationals weekend. (Todd Boyd photos)
With 46 Late Models on grounds for the three-day event, Clanton secured his spot into the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature with a fifth-to-second run in his heat. Starting in sixth, Shane was involved in a multi-car tangle on the second circuit that dropped him back to 14th when the checkered flag flew.
For a pair of heat races on Friday, Shane followed up a fourth-place finish in the first round with a third-place performance in his second heat.
With passing points from Friday’s heat races positioning him on the sixth row for Saturday’s $50,000-to-win USA 100 A-Main, Clanton was an early retiree from the 100-lap affair on lap 37. He was scored 23rd on the final rundown.
