RTJ steers to sixth-place finish in Dirt Track Bank Go 50 at I-80

With a third-place finish in his heat placing him on the fourth row for the feature, Thornton led laps 13-29 before ultimately crossing the line in sixth after destroying his spoiler while running the cushion.

For the Dirt Track Bank Go 50 on Thursday afternoon at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.), Ricky followed up a third-place finish in his heat with an 11th-to-sixth showing in the 50-lap feature.

On Friday evening for a pair of heat races leading up to Saturday’s Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals finale, Ricky came in third in his first heat before passing six cars in the second round to pick up the 10-lap victory.

With Mother Nature postponing the $53,000-to-win A-Main to Sunday, Thornton dropped four spots in the 80-lap affair to place eighth.

Ricky sits in third in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
