Podium finish in Firecracker prelim at Lernerville Speedway

Drawing 54 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries, Ricky grabbed the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat, which positioned him on the ninth row for the feature. Coming one spot shy of a Top-10 finish, Thornton passed seven cars in the 30-lapper to finish 11th.
On Friday, Thornton outdueled Earl Pearson Jr. in his heat race to pick up the win. With $6,000 on the line in the feature, Ricky recorded a third-place finish in the 30-lapper. He followed Mike Marlar and Tim McCreadie across the line.
For the finale on Saturday, Ricky edged his way into the $50,000-to-win Firecracker 100 with a third-place finish in his heat. Starting in 17th, Thornton Jr. advanced through the field 11 spots in the 100-lap affair to place sixth.
Ricky is fourth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
