Lucas Oil ASCS Embarking On Three Night Swing Through Missouri And Oklahoma

(May 23, 2022) Looking at a three-night run this Memorial Day Weekend, the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network will head for Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., on Friday, May 27, and, Saturday, May 28 before making the long-awaited return to Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Okla. on Saturday, May 29.

The Spring Sprint and Midget Nationals at Lake Ozark Speedway on Friday and Saturday, the event features an all open-wheel lineup with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series taking on the ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps, along with the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League, Lucas Oil POWRi Wingless Auto Racing Sprint League, and POWRi RaceSaver Sprint Cars.

A look back to Memorial Day Weekend one year ago, Australia's Scott Bogucki and Oklahoma's Ryan Timms split time atop the podium. Career victory six for Bogucki, the win by Timms was his first with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series and established him as the youngest winner in tour history at 14 years, 9 months, and 25 days. In all, there have been 17 events contested at the Missouri oval with a dozen winners.

Friday, May 27, and Saturday, May 28 at Lake Ozark Speedway opens at 2:00 P.M. for teams to pull in. Grandstands open at 5:00 P.M. with Hot Laps at 6:15 P.M. (CDT). Tickets per day are $20 for adults, $1 for Senior and Military, $10 for youth (6-12), and free for kids five and under. Pit Passes are $40. Turning focus to Oklahoma, the last time the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour was at Thunderbird Speedway was June 9, 2000. Going the way of current ASCS National point's leader, Wayne Johnson, the half-mile formerly known as Muskogee Motor Speedway saw a total of four events between 1998 and 2000, with Gary Wright taking the first three wins. Presented by Terry Mattox, the Sunday showdown will also include Factory Stocks ($500 to win, $50 to start), Pure Stocks ($300 to win, $35 to start), and USRA B-Mods ($500 to win, $60 to start).

Sunday, May 29 at Thunderbird Speedway opens at 4:00 P.M. in the Pits and 5:00 P.M. in the Grandstands. Hot Laps are at 6:30 P.M. and Racing at 7:30 P.M. (CDT). Tickets are $20 for adults and free for kids 12 and under. Thunderbird Speedway is located at the Muskogee Fairgrounds (1444 S Cherokee St). Wayne Johnson leads the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network into the weekend by 36 points over defending series champion Blake Hahn. Third currently finds Seth Bergman, who picked up a win over the weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway. Jason Martin sits fourth with Dylan Westbrook in fifth. Ryan Timms, Garet Williamson, Tim Crawley, Landon Britt, and Brandon Anderson complete the top ten in tour standings.

The 2022 season will mark the 31st year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. Spearheaded by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, the ASCS Nation includes Regional Tours that encompass both wing and non-wing competition.
