Hansen wins Sooner feature after final lap restart
By John Rittenoure - MUSKOGEE, Okla. (May 20, 2022) - It was not the night Hayden Ross had hoped for, but it was for Brett Hansen.
Hansen only led the final lap of Friday’s Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series feature at Thunderbird Speedway. But it was enough to post his third victory of 2022.
Ross, who leads the series point standings, seemed well on the way to a fourth SLMS feature victory when he blew a rear tire with one lap remaining in the 20-lap main event. The yellow flag waved and when it restarted Hansen inherited the lead and held on for one lap to post his fourth victory of the season. Defending champion Kip Hughes finished second over Eddie Tidwell who was third. Ross was credited with a fourth place finish.

About Sooner Late Model Series
The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas as well.
