Tom Berry Jr.

Berry Banks Stuart Modified Winner's Cash; Wins Marshalltown Thriller

It was back to business on Monday night at Stuart (Iowa) Speedway for Tom Berry Jr. as he took both his IMCA Modified and his IMCA Stock car into battle.

In a 17-car field of Modifieds, Tom hit the ground running by winning his heat race from the third-starting spot to earn the fourth-starting spot for the 22-lap feature.

He wasted little time in the feature working his way into the top spot and went on to bag his second win of the year with Tim Ward, Todd Shute, Josh Gilman, and Dallon Murty rounding out the Top-5 finishers.

In the Stock Car division his luck wouldn't be as good. He finished second in his heat race to earn the fifth-starting spot for the feature, but was an early retiree to a 20th-place finish.

Wednesday night action brought Tom to the famed Marshalltown (Iowa) Speedway for a $1,000-to-win program. With 24 IMCA Modifieds on hand, Tom charged from the sixth-starting spot to a runner-up finish in his heat race.

His heat race performance positioned him sixth on the grid for the 20-lap feature. By the sixth circuit of the feature he found himself in the second position as he began pursuing race leader, Cayden Carter. Berry ultimately charged to the lead on the 17th circuit and led the final four laps to record his second win of the week and fourth of the year.
