Can-Am looking to Beat Mother Nature Friday Night
Between off weeks and rainouts, the Golden Jubilee Season at the Can-Am Speedway has been at a stand still the last few weeks but all five divisions are back and ready for action at the Nasty Track of the North.
In the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modifieds Tim Fuller is still the driver to beat with four wins and a comfortable lead in the points, 66 to be exact over Lance Willix, who won the last race out on June 29th. Opening day winner Billy Dunn sits third with Ryan Bartlett and Shaun Shaw completing the top five.
Over in the Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman Mike Fowler is the driver everyone is chasing coming into Friday nights action. Fowler leads four time and defending track champion Tyler Corcoran by a slim 11 points with Gavin Eisele and Brennan Moore tied for third and the ever-consistent Eric Nier completing the top five. Corcoran was the most recent winner on June 29th. Over the break our own Tyler Stevenson claimed a feature win at the Brockville Speedway last Saturday night while Gavin Eisele took over the point lead also.
Josh Verne Jr. will look to keep the roll going in the Panther Frameworx Crate Sprint Cars on Friday. The two time and defending champion won the last race out and much like Stevenson, also claimed a win at Brockville last Saturday, his second of the season. Verne currently leads title rival Andrew Hennessy by 16 points with Tucker Donath completing the top three, in the Can-Am standings.
Francis White is looking to defend his crown from last year in the Sundance Leisure Thundercars as he holds the lead by 10 points over second place driver Damien Bechler. Both drivers have a pair of wins in 2024, while Tony Frezzo, Jared Gilson and OJ White complete the top five. Anthony St. Mary Jr. has all the momentum after he won the last time we were in action, his second of the season. Also Can-Am regular Justin Pope did some traveling last Sunday claiming a Mini Stock win against the top drivers at the Glen Ridge Motorsports Park.
Logan Brown has been he talk of the town in the Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman as he leads the way with wins this season, with five trips to victory lane in 2024. Brady Howard is not to be taken lightly in this class either as he has taken two wins on the year. On June 29th another new face made her first ever trip to victory lane. Genavieve Bartlett held off both Howard and Brown to score her first career win and will look for back to back this weekend.
