Tough weekend for Ahumada Jr. with USMTS in Oklahoma
Carlos Ahumada Jr. traveled to the Sooner State on Friday and Saturday to compete in a pair of Summit USMTS National Championship races paying $5,000 to win.
The action opened on Friday evening with the Spring Salute at Colcord’s Arrowhead Speedway, where Ahumada was one of 40 USMTS competitors. He finished sixth in his heat race and ninth in his B-Main at the 1/3-mile track, ending his night in advance of the 40-lap main event.
On Saturday, Ahumada was among 41 USMTS entrants at the 3/8-mile Tri-State Speedway in Pocola for the ninth annual USMTS Juggernaut. He drove to seventh in his heat race and was unable to move into the 40-lap feature after an 11th-place showing in his B-Main.
With the Oklahoma events complete, Ahumada holds the 16th spot in the USMTS point standings.
