Ahumada Jr. takes on USMTS Fall Jamboree
Carlos Ahumada Jr. traveled to Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) over the weekend to compete in the 25th annual United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Fall Jamboree at the “Mecca of Modifieds.”
On Thursday, Ahumada’s Hacienda Mechanical Inc. No. 65x machine was among 81 USMTS entries in the pits at the 3/8-mile clay oval, where a $3,000 first-place payday was on the line.
The El Paso, Texas, driver finished fourth in his heat race and seventh in his B-Main, necessitating the use of an emergency provisional to transfer to the night’s main event.
Ahumada started from the 30th spot – shotgun on the field – in the 35-lap feature and drove forward seven positions to record a 23rd-place result.
He currently sits 14th in the USMTS National standings.
Both the Friday and Saturday portions of the Fall Jamboree fell to inclement weather, with a makeup date slated for next spring.
