Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series
Zack Mitchell set to chase the 2024 Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series Championship
Zack Mitchell already has five regional championships under his belt. The 28-year-old Enoree, S.C., driver hopes to add a sixth this season as he plans to follow the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series.
Mitchell entered eight Hunt the Front events last season. Starting seven features — he withdrew from his consolation race in the season-opener at All-Tech — Mitchell had four finishes of fourth or better, including back-to-back runner-up performances in tour stops at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City and Senoia (Ga.) Raceway. He also led six laps during a Hunt the Front feature at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway before contact with a lapped car ended his night with a 26th-place finish.
Mitchell, who campaigns a Clements-powered Longhorn, hopes to build on that groundwork this season. While series events at Mississippi’s Whynot Motorsports Park, Kentucky’s Lake Cumberland Speedway and Alabama’s Talladega Short Track may be unfamiliar tracks, there are a number of tracks on the series schedule that are right in his wheelhouse.
A four-time Ultimate Southeast Series champion (2018-’20, ’22), Mitchell’s 16 Ultimate Series wins rank him second on the all-time list. He had six series wins en route to the 2022 title. The 2017 Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series champion, Mitchell has 13 career Clash wins, which is sixth on the tour’s all-time win list.
Nine of his Ultimate Southeast Series victories came at tracks the Hunt the Front Series will visit this season. Since 2018, Mitchell has three series wins at both Lancaster (S.C.) Speedway and Lavonia (Ga.) Speedway; two wins at Ultimate Motorsports Park in Elkin, N.C., (formerly Friendship Motor Speedway); and one win at Senoia (Ga.) Raceway. During his Ultimate Series title runs in both 2019 and 2020, Mitchell reached victory lane at Lancaster, Lavonia and Ultimate Motorsports Park each season. Likewise, nine of Mitchell’s 13 career Carolina Clash Series wins came at tracks the Hunt the Front tour will visit this year.
Coming off a successful season that produced seven victories, including three five-figure paydays and his first career Southern All Stars triumph in Cherokee Speedway’s Mike Duvall Memorial, Mitchell’s 2023 momentum and familiarity with the facilities on the schedule could bode we as he chases the $50,000-to-win Hunt the Front Series championship.
