Third-place finish in Castrol Flo Racing Night in America event at Eldora

Ricky Thornton Jr. and the Koehler Motorsports team invaded Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Wednesday as the Castrol FloRacing Night in America event kicked off the 54th running of the World 100.

Amassing 82 Late Models for the $20,000-to-win opener, Thornton stormed into the feature with a flag-to-flag victory in his heat race. Gaining ground after a lap-15 restart, Ricky reeled in a third-place finish in the 50-lap affair. He joined Jonathan Davenport and Devin Moran on the podium.

In his World 100 preliminary on Thursday, Ricky earned a spot into his A-Main with a third-place finish in his 12-lap qualifier. With a $12,000 payday up for grabs, Thornton surrendered one spot to finish 10th.

Following a 14th-place finish in Friday’s prelim, Thornton raced his way into the $57,000-to-win World 100 with a wire-to-wire win in his heat. His night came to an early end in the 100-lapper after retiring on lap 79.
