Fourth-place finish in National 100 at East Alabama Motor Speedway
Ricky Thornton Jr. and the SSI Motorsports team trekked south on Saturday compete in the National 100 weekend at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.) aboard his Hoker Trucking No. 20RT Late Model.
With 40 Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series entries signed in for Saturday’s prelims, Thornton backed up the 11th-fastest qualifying effort in his group with a sixth-to-second run in his heat race.
Rolling off fifth for Sunday’s $49,000-to-win main event, Ricky clawed forward one spot in the 100-lap affair to register a fourth-place finish in his first-attempt at the 49th running National 100. He followed Chris Madden, Jimmy Owens, and Kyle Bronson across the line with Tyler Erb coming in fifth.
