Thornton races to fifth-place finish in Castrol FNiA opener

Ricky Thornton Jr. invaded Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Tuesday afternoon to take part in the tour opener for the Castrol FloRacing Night in America. With recent rain making for rough track conditions, Thornton Jr. dropped one spot in his heat race to finish third. Starting the feature in ninth, Ricky gained four spots in the 30-lapper to finish fifth. He followed Kyle Larson, Jonathan Davenport, Brandon Overton, and Brandon Sheppard to the checkers. On Wednesday night at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) for the second round of the 13-race miniseries, Ricky followed up a sixth-place finish in his heat with a second-place finish in his B-Main. Starting the $22,022-to-win A-Main in 19th, Thornton Jr. charged forward nine positons in the 50-lap affair to register a 10th-place finish.

With the first two events in the books, Ricky is seventh in the Castrol FloRacing Night in America point standings.
