Runner-up finish in Red Nininger Tribute at Hagerstown

Following the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on an eastern swing, Ricky Thornton Jr. made the trek to Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Md.) on Saturday afternoon for the Red Nininger Tribute. With 42 Late Models entered, Thornton Jr. clocked in third fastest in his time trial group before picking up an eight-lap heat race victory. Starting the $15,000-to-win A-Main in second, Ricky held his spot to place second, trailing Tim McCreadie across the line with Jonathan Davenport, Gregg Satterlee, and Tyler Erb rounding out the Top-5 finishers. On Sunday afternoon at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.) for the River Valley 40, Ricky came in third in his heat race, which positioned him 11th on the starting grid for the feature. With $10,000 on the line, Thornton Jr. dropped two spots in the 40-lapper to finish 13th.

Ricky is currently eighth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
