Mechanical issues halt Thorton’s run at Boone

With the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) doubleheader weekend in Illinois rained out, Ricky Thornton Jr. traveled to Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) to compete in his Modified. Electing to start at the tail of the feature for the $3,500-to-win back-row challenge, Thornton Jr. charged through the field to assume command of the lead on lap 13. He began separating himself from the field until a mechanical failure ended his night immediately.
