Pair of Top-10 finishes in LOLMDS action in Kentucky

SSI Motorsports pilot Ricky Thornton Jr. returned behind the wheel of the No. 20RT Late Model on Friday night at Ponderosa Speedway (Junction City, Ky.) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS)-sanctioned John Bradshaw Memorial. In a field of 25 cars, Thornton Jr. followed up the fifth fastest time in his qualifying group with a third-place finish in his heat. The following night at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) for the Ralph Latham Memorial, Ricky posted a third-place finish in his heat, which positioned him 11th on the starting grid for the $15,000-to-win A-Main. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, Thornton Jr. marched forward five spots in the 60-lapper to finish sixth.

Ricky has climbed to fourth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
