Prairie Dirt Classic weekend brings RTJ to FALS
Tuesday night found Ricky Thornton Jr. in action at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) to compete with the MARS Racing Series for the Hoker 50. In a field of 22 cars, Thornton Jr. posted a fourth-place finish in his heat, which pinned him eighth on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. On Friday, SSI Motorsports headed to the famed Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) for the 31st annual Prairie Dirt Classic weekend. With the 74 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries split into two separate groups for time trials, Ricky clocked in 13th fastest in his group. Locked into the seventh-starting position for his preliminary feature where the Top 4 finishers transfer into Saturday night’s main event, Thornton Jr. recorded a seventh-place outing.
Transferring into the B-Main on Saturday for another shot at the $50,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic, Thornton Jr. ran into mechanical issues that sidelined him on the fifth lap.
